3Ks Engineering Co were approached by the main design contractor employed by the Ministry Of Defence to carry out urgent modifications required to HMS Ocean’s 34 tonne deployment pontoon. The pontoon had sustained serious accident damage deeming it unusable and requiring replacement of the 60mm thick steel hinge sections, a planned deployment of the vessel to a major international Navy exercise off the coast of Norway resulted in an emergency turnaround required. Content in the knowledge that 3Ks were not only able to handle the large heavy sections but also able to fully fabricate, weld and fully machine in house all of the new components required within an extremely tight time frame gave our client the confidence to award 3ks the contract. We are pleased to report that the job was completed within the agreed timeframe and on agreed budget with the pontoon being shipped by road back to the ship at Devonport Royal Dockyard over the festive season allowing the vessel to embark for the exercise as planned.
